Our Mission

Our mission is to drive economic growth and pride in Midland County through a versatile, inclusive space that supports local enterprise and public engagement.

Our History

Vision & Planning Early 2000s
The Midland County Horseshoe was conceived as a multi-purpose facility to serve West Texas by providing a premier venue for entertainment, expos, and community events. Backed by the Midland County Commissioners Court, the project was aimed at boosting local tourism and economic development. The name “Horseshoe” was inspired by its curved layout and nod to Texas rodeo culture.

Expansion & Improvements Responding to growing demand, the Horseshoe underwent various upgrades over the years. Enhancements included improved audio/visual systems, expanded outdoor space, upgraded seating, and improvements to parking and logistics to support rising attendance numbers. Anchoring Major Events Over the years, the Horseshoe became the permanent home to several high-profile events such as the Permian Basin International Oil Show (PBIOS), Permian Basin Comic Con, Roseland Oil & Gas Expos, and Monster Truck Wars. Its versatile layout made it a go-to spot for concerts, rodeos, trade shows, graduations, and church services. Grand Opening 2006 The Horseshoe officially opened in 2006 with much fanfare, marking the beginning of a new era for large-scale events in the Permian Basin. The complex included an indoor arena, pavilion, and conference rooms, offering over 100,000 square feet of flexible event space. Economic & Cultural Impact The venue has significantly contributed to the local economy by attracting visitors from across Texas and beyond. It serves as both an economic engine and a cultural hub—hosting not just entertainment, but also local markets, school functions, and civic events that connect the community. Community-Driven Through stronger partnerships and deeper vendor relationships, the Horseshoe has kept its focus on what matters most: serving and celebrating the heart of the West Texas community.

Really attractive place to visit. Here with a friend who shows dogs. Staying at on site RV parking. Plenty of space adequate night lighting, not bright but can walk around in the dark ok.
Steven Morris
I'm here for all the comic cons! It's always a pleasure to be here because this arena has by far the best events!
Erick Moreno
Great arena. Saw REO Speedwagon here once, as well as Franklin Graham on his God loves Texas tour. Today I enjoyed the Midland County fair and judged a chili cook-off. Great Gun Show today.
Brad Burt
I really enjoyed it, it's a large area and several smaller building for events. Gives you sort of a bigger city vibe stadium. I've only been here once for a truck show and everything was a pretty good experience.
Pierres Corner
Always a great place for any large community gatherings (trade shows, banquets, fairs, and seasonal markets (Knife and Firearms Exhibits).
Melissa Culp
Went for a company gathering. The venue was nice, easy to enter and facility was clean and accessible.
Terry George
It's a great place for shows and events to be at and is big! We always come to the gun shows that come to this place and we always have a great time. Lots of vendors and fits pretty in that huge area.
