For nearly 20 years, the Josh Abbott Band has remained one of the defining names in Texas country music, earning a loyal fan base through authentic songwriting, unforgettable live performances, and an unwavering independent spirit.
Led by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Josh Abbott, the band formed at Texas Tech University in 2006 and has since become one of the genre's most successful independent acts. Their career includes seven acclaimed studio albums, three RIAA Gold-certified singles, and fan favorites including She's Like Texas, Oh, Tonight featuring Kacey Musgraves, Wasn't That Drunk featuring Carly Pearce, and Settle Me Down.
Known for energetic performances and heartfelt storytelling, Josh Abbott Band has continued to grow its legacy with appearances at iconic venues and festivals including the Ryman Auditorium, Stagecoach Festival, and The Long Road Festival in England. Held annually during the fourth weekend of August, the 2026 Midland County Fair takes place August 20–23 and continues to expand the Midland County Fair Family of Events, a year-round initiative that partners with local events and organizations that share similar missions.
This collaborative effort promotes community unity, provides educational opportunities, and offers entertainment that attracts visitors while supporting the local economy. Most importantly, proceeds from the Midland County Fair primarily benefit West Texas students by providing financial assistance for higher education.
